Literary Industry

Written by Lizz

The literary industry relies heavily on the precise nature of its prose. Any mistakes in the copy will take away from the emotion and meaning of the words. The literary industry is so picky about the work it will accept because the costs of printing and distributing printed work are quite high. Add in the cost of marketing, and taking on a new writer becomes a costly endeavor.

This discernment means that anyone wishing to break into the literary industry has to have work that is as polished as possible. Sending in unedited work, no matter how short it is, is setting the writer up to fail. Finding an editor online is simple and it can save the writer a great deal of time and trouble when their work is taken more seriously by industry insiders. Editing results in work that has a more professional feel. It will keep publishers from discarding a work due to its amateurish mistakes.

There are so many writers trying to break into the literary industry that competition is as fierce now as it has ever been. To be able to stand up to the competition, a work can't have any typos, grammatical errors or word usage errors. To submit a work that contains any of these errors will mean that the work will not have the chance at publication that it deserves. Instead, it could face rejection for problems that could have easily and inexpensively been corrected by a knowledgeable editor.
