While I am very detail oriented I also strongly believe that writing should have a flow to it that allows it to be read aloud if need be.
That said I don't try to impose my style onto another writer's work, but keep the voice and just smooth it out some.
I love to help people find a creative way to write, but clarity is really the primary goal so I try to write the way my clients would write if they had the time and inclination to go over it for the umpteenth time like I do.
I often help people to whom English is a second language clarify their thoughts and that can be very rewarding, but I've also worked with advertising copy, grants, fiction, poetry, dissertations and technical writing and enjoy them all.
I've been known to do some fact checking to make sure everything isn't just clear, but accurate. Writing is a form of communication that I hold in high regard so I prefer it to be in better shape then when I first came into contact with it.
I feel fairly comfortable with the written word in all its forms and look forward to learning more about language in the years to come since there are always new words to discover and new combinations to put them into.
I also don't worry too much about following every single rule of grammar to the letter because that can constrict clarity, which remains paramount.
