I am an unforgiving stickler for grammar, consistent style, and a clean layout. For the past eight years I've worked as a nonfiction book copy editor, proofreader, and indexer, and I have experience editing, writing, and indexing journal abstracts, editing educational books from concept to delivery, and proofreading and copyediting advertising and marketing copy. I have worked on a wide variety of books, on topics including nature, car culture, sports, hobbies, youth development, animals, and history.
I am most familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style, but I am adept at quickly learning and applying new styles. Confident that one can never know everything, I am inquisitive and always look for the right answers, whether those answers come from a dictionary, a style guide, encyclopedias, or the horse's mouth.
It doesn't matter if I'm reading sociological, political science, and social work journals from cover to cover in order to write clear and accurate abstracts or indexing a 650-page book about horse breeds--I apply the same strict standards to my work.
