My grammar obsession began in the 8th grade and it has only grown since then. It's the kind of obsession that makes me antsy when I see grammatical mistakes in publications and will cause me not to patronize a store or purchase a product if I see errors in its advertisements. I entered college as an English major and graduated with an English degree (with an emphasis on writing) from the University of San Francisco. Throughout my four years in college, including the year I spent abroad in Ireland, I worked at the college Writing Centers as a Student Editor and edited papers and documents brought in by other students. I continued working at the USF Writing Center for a little more than a year after graduation as well. My most intense editing experience began while I was studying in Ireland when I started as an Associate Editor for the weekly newsletter for students, "Tuesdays Don't Count." I continued that job until the newsletter went defunct a little more than three years later. Even now, years after the grammar fever struck, my obsession is still going strong and I continue to enjoy reading with a pen in hand to make any necessary corrections.
